Primary Addiction Therapist

Monica has her Masters in Social Work and is also a state certified alcohol and drug counselor candidate. She has worked with adolescents and adults in individual, group and family settings. Monica utilizes a client-centered, strengths-based approach to address the unique therapeutic goals of her clients. She believes in exploring and redirecting low motivation, denial and resistance with non-judgmental, strengths-based and mindfulness-based interventions. By integrating mindfulness into the therapeutic process, clients can learn new ways to cope, grow and make positive adjustments.

Working with adolescents or adults experiencing addiction has been Monica’s passion ever since entering the field. Addiction creates hopelessness, isolation and despair. Therefore, it is essential to recognize the resiliency and inherent strengths of those individuals that have suffered with it. Monica believes therapy can be a powerful process to inspire and co-create a unique path to wholeness. Learning to be mindful in the moment is a life changing tool for individuals who have experienced addiction. It is her intention to help people from all walks of life especially LGBTQ and other gender nonconforming individuals.

Monica trusts in the mind-body-spirit connection and has the upmost regard for the innate ability each one of us possesses to grow and create lasting change in our lives. Connecting with our inner selves and the world around us can often be a challenge but it is also filled with opportunities for relief, healing and growth.
